The City of Los Angeles has passed an ordinance requiring all city-owned buildings larger than 7,500 square feet or built before 1978 be retrofitted to meet LEED Silver certification. Major goals of this ordinance include creating green jobs and improving buildings in low-income communities. You can read more about the ordinance here.
