In the complex world of food production, tracking products from plant to plate plays an important role in ensuring food is harvested sustainably.
Two of the world’s leading sustainable food experts, Christian Barcan and Amanda Josey, will speak on campus about their experience in the field in a special guest lecture sponsored by the B.S. in Environmental Sustainability Program on Thursday, April 28 at 5:30 p.m. in The Tuttleman Center Auditorium.
Barcan and Josey, who are both managers at BASF, the world’s largest chemical company, work in the growing field of life-cycle analysis, tracing food ingredients from their point of origin to their inclusion in a final product and measuring the environmental impact throughout the process.
They will speak about the tools and methods they use to promote sustainable food production and encourage better performance in terms of safety, environmental impact, social aspects and costs of ownership in the industry.
The lecture is free and open to the University community and the general public. No RSVP is required.

This sounds like a GREAT event but unfortunately it is scheduled for the same night as "Innovative Agriculture for the 21st Century" at the Academy of Natural Sciences... What gives?
